Last week, three members of the Stockdale Center Team (Center Director – Dr. Joe Thomas; Volgenau Director of Strategy and Research – Dr. Ed Barrett; and Timothy and Susanne Sullivan Director of Influencer Development – Dr. Celeste Raver) had the opportunity to provide a workshop at NATO Allied Commander Transformation for members of the German Armed Forces, as part of their ongoing leadership education – Innere Führung (Inner Leadership).
The Stockdale Center team engaged in an exchange of ideas regarding the teaching of the concepts of obedience and resistance. We asked questions, such as How do you approach being a good citizen and a good soldier? We touched on concepts from the foundational values established in the U.S. Constitution and how those are embedded into the value system of the Armed Forces, applied to the development of character in military members, and exemplified the Constitutional Paradigm, toward the creationion of systems that enable the development of good citizens and good soldiers.
